↳ Some psychiatrists are so hungry for insight that they may try to manufacture it. How deadly that can be for the patient who believes them.

this has been gathering dust in my projects for a couple of months now. i finished it over the past few days and i’m incredibly proud of the result. extra details are in the description, but basically if you ever felt the need to spend 3 minutes of ur life looking at as many gay-ass fictional ppl as possible, this is ur opportunity

hello friends are u like me constantly on the prowl for quality queer sci-fi/fantasy well if so i have a book rec for u

this beauty right here $3.99 amazon kindle edition hella yeah

what is this book about u ask? sit down friends and i will tell u.

innowen, a young man living in a pre-grecian fantasy world, has been paralyzed below the waist since birth. when a beautiful witch appears out of a storm in the middle of the night and performs a ritual that grants him the ability to walk, it seems to innowen that all of his prayers and wishes have been answered. however, he realizes all too soon that his miraculous healing comes with several significant disadvantages. he is able to walk only at night, returning to his disabled state between dawn and sunset, and if he desires to continue his nocturnal recovery he must perform an arcane dance every night in honor of the witch’s god. while these two conditions appear initially manageable, innowen quickly discovers the disturbing extent of the curse he bears: anyone who witnesses his mysterious nightly performance is compelled to act upon their darkest, most deeply-hidden desire. when the fallout from this dark condition culminates in a series of horrifying events that tear innowen’s life apart, he sets out on a quest to find the powerful witch who transformed his world and attempt to understand the practical, ethical, and moral implications of the shadowy influence he now wields over the darkest recesses of the human heart.

k so let me start out i saying i hella enjoyed this book. it wasn’t perfect; there was a definite shortage of lady characters, and although the ones who do appear have agency and motivation, they are far from the focus of the story. also, and this is a big also, there is an extremely unsettling and relatively graphic rape scene with incestuous parent/child overtones in the early chapters of the book, as well as consensual parent/child incest between different characters in a later scene. if these subjects are in any way triggering to you i would definitely proceed with caution here or stay safe and skip the read altogether.

however, if you feel able to safely approach that content i would absolutely recommend this book to u because there is just so much good here omg. innowen is both disabled and queer, and as the book progresses the main focus of both the plot and his character development converges onto his relationship with his poc boyfriend, which grows organically from a dedicated, passionate friendship to an OPT 5EVER LEVEL ROMANCE i swear this pairing is exceptional and the exploration of their delicate, subtle transition from friends to lovers is absolutely beautiful and remarkably ahead of its time, considering the book’s 1983 publication date. all this grandness is framed within a well-constructed fantasy world and an intriguing, character-driven plot with a simple yet satisfying resolution.

TL;DR hecka good queer fantasy novel def consider taking a look while keepin potentially triggering content in mind!

me and you baby, still flush all the pain away.
so before i end my day, remember:

my sweet prince,
you are the one.

For me, the internal logic — this has driven writers on the show batty [to the point] where they’d be stamping around the writers’ room saying, ‘This show is bullshit! It doesn’t make any sense!’ and it’s like, actually, this makes emotional sense. That’s the story I want to track. I want to track emotion, and I want to track cinema. Logic, I think, is important, but it is secondary or tertiary. […] I have no interest in telling a forensic thriller.
— "Hannibal" creator Bryan Fuller explains how the show sometimes drives its own writers nuts (via theyoungturks)
